Meeting Point

Dette prosjektet ble initiert av Samira Jamouchi og Samir M'kadmi og utviklet i samarbeid med Du store verden! og Stenersenmuseet. Utstillingen presenterte åtte kunstnere med tilknytning til både Europa og Maghreb-regionen.

Mounir Fatmi: Born in Tanger, Morocco in 1970, he lives and works in Paris and Tanger. Fatmi studied at the Fine Art Academy of Rome and the Fine Art School of Casablanca. H-is works have been exhibited among others at Dakar Biennale, Wroclaw Media Art, Musée des arts Décoratifs, Paris, Museum Africa, Johannesburg, Migros Museum in Zürich, Festival of Cinema, Montpellier, Kunst Palast in Düsseldorf, Hayward Gallery, London, Georges Pompidou Centre, Paris and Mori Art Museum, Tokyo.

Mohamed Ben Benaouisse: Born in 1970 in La Hestre, Belgium, he lives and works in Ghent, Belgium. Ben Benaouisse is an autodidact. His works have been presented through a large number of exhibitions and dance and theatre productions, among others at Nieuwpoorttheater, Gent, Belgium, The Modern Art Museum of Arnhem, Festival Sacrés belges, Lille/Arras, De Warande, Turnhout, La Teinturerie, Amiens, France, Palestina-Belgium / Belgium-Palestina.

Ammar Bouras: Born in Algeria 1964, he lives and works in Alger. Bouras get his degree in visual communication at Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts and a specialization in painting at Ecole Spérieure des Beaux-Arts, Alger. His works have been presented at the Esma gallery, Alger, Citadel, Alger, The FIAV video art festival, Bari, Italy, museum Mahmoud Saïd, Alexandria, Egypt, La Friche de la Belle de Mai, Marseille, Espace Electra, Paris, France and The Frantz Fanon circle, Alger.

Kader Attia: Born 1970 in Dugny, Seine Saint-Denis, France, he lives and works in Paris. Attia got his degrees at The Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués "Duperré", Paris, Escola de Artes Applicades "La Massana", Barcelone and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs Paris. His works have been presented among others at The Herzliya Museum, Tel Aviv, Kammel Mennour Gallery, Paris, The Tramway, Glasgow, Lyon Biennale, Lyon, Art Basel 36, Basel and Guandong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, China.

Hans Hamid Rasmussen: Born in Algeria 1963, he lives and works in Oslo. Rasmussen studied at the Photo Academy, Bauhaus school, Stockholm and at The Academy of fine Art in Oslo. His works have been exhibited among others at KIASMA, Stenersen museum, Oslo, Norrköping Art Museum, Henie Onstad Art Centre, Olso, Borås Art museum, Momentum, Moss, The 26 Bienal de São Paulo and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires.

Nadia Benbouta: Born in Alger in 1970, she lives and works in Paris. Benbouta studied at Ecole supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Alger and at Ecole supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Her works have been presented in various museums, galleries and art centres among others at Bibliothèque National de France in Paris, Musée des Beaux Art, Odessa, the French Institute in Kiev, Orangerie du Sénat, Paris, Espace Electra, Paris, Espace Paul Rebeyrolle, Eymoutier and Riva Gallery, New York.

Zineb Sedira: Born in Paris, she lives and works in London. Sedira got her master degree at Slade School of art, then a research degree in the photography department at The Royal College of Art in London. Her works have been exhibited among others at Hayward Gallery, London, Georges Pompidou centre, Paris, Guggenheim Gallery, Chapman University, CA, USA, Fundació la Caixa, Barcelona, and La Vilette, Paris.

Yto Barrada: Born in Paris in 1971, she lives and works in Tangier and Paris. Barrada studied history and political science at the Sorbonne and photography at the International Center of Photography, New York. Her works have been exhibited among others at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Barcelona, Villa Medici, Rome, Witte de With, Rotterdam and Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Et seminar 15. oktober på Stenersenmuseet utdypet utstillingens temaer gjennom stemmene til kunstnere, forskere og akademikere. Moderator var Marith Hope. Innledere: Salah Hassan (New York), Gavin Jantjes (Oslo), Nadira Laggoune-Aklouche (Alger), Olfa Lamloum (Paris), Khaled Ramadan (København) og kunstnerne i Meeting Point.

Meeting Point katalog: Det er utgitt en publikasjon som gir en visuell dokumentasjon av verkene og tekster av kunstnere, akademikere og forfattere.
