From their first kick-off in February 2004, Sonora Cimarrón have pleased the audiences in Norway, and has been playing around the country ever since, at events such as Norwegian Salsa Festival, Trondheim Latino Festival, Mela Festival, Oslo World Music Festival, Bellville Jazz House, Anjazz - jazz festival in Hamar, and abroad.

The band represents an entirely new style. An original concept conceived by its director, arranger, composer Tito Guevara, which is willing to enlarge the idea of salsa music including other afro-latin rhythms, such as festejo from Perú, andarele from Ecuador, candombe from Uruguay in their compositions. The band maintains a personal style keeping to the roots of the original grooves as well as the typical golden era salsa sound. In addition, the acoustic sound of the contrabass, the Puerto-Rican cuatro-guitar, the warm sound of the trombones and the power of all percussions. All this makes Sonora Cimarrón a very unique afro-latin salsa band. A lot of energy on the stage, colourful arrangements, and groovy and electrifying rhythms all compel you to stay on your feet and dance!

Sonora Cimarrón consists of Tito Guevara (conga, coro), Carlos Aranguiz (cuatro-guitar), Vidar Bråthen (trombone), Bladimir Viloria (vocals, percussion), Alexis Ruiz (bongos, tambora, percussion, coro), Halvor Voldstad (trombone), Torkild Sandes (contrabass) and Yanik Hartig (timbals, percussion).

At the concert at the Winterfest Week, the band performed with guest artist Jonny Luis Naranjo Enriquez (vocal) and with Amelia Matsinhe Halvorsen (piano).

Sonora Cimarrón has also performed during Urban World, our concert series at Cosmopolite i Oslo.
